Allen Road will be closed in both directions from Sheppard Avenue West to Eglinton Avenue West this weekend to allow for maintenance work. It will close Friday, November 17 at midnight and will reopen on Sunday, November 19 at 10 a.m. A full closure of Allen Road is required for the safety of the public and workers.
A partial northbound lane closure is planned on Allen Road north of Hwy 401 at the Wilson Heights off ramps for concrete curb work, weather permitting. This should not affect traffic on the Allen and the area will be open for vehicular traffic.
Specific activities that will be undertaken during this closure:
• sweeping
• general roadway repairs including pothole repairs
• sign maintenance
• streetlight inspection and repairs
• cleaning and repair of catchbasins
• maintenance/inspection of overhead signs
• traffic camera maintenance
• crash system inspection
• grass cutting and trimming of trees on top of retaining walls, and
• litter cleanup and graffiti removal.
Dufferin Street and Bathurst Street are alternative routes for motorists to use during the closure. Whenever possible, people are encouraged to consider using public transit as a convenient alternative to driving.
Enhanced signage will inform drivers of the road closures and signal-timing changes on parallel roads will help manage traffic in the area. Road users should expect to encounter some delays and increased traffic on nearby roads.
