Max Pacioretty, a 36-year-old veteran forward, has overcome significant challenges to make a meaningful impact in the 2025 NHL Playoffs. After missing the final 27 games of the regular season due to injury, Pacioretty returned to the lineup in Game 3 of the first-round series against the Ottawa Senators. His dedication and determination culminated in a standout performance in Game 6, where he scored the game-winning goal with 5:39 remaining in the third period, securing a 4-2 victory and clinching the series for the Maple Leafs.
Pacioretty’s goal marked his first postseason tally as a Maple Leaf and his fourth career series-clinching goal, placing him among an elite group of active players. His journey back to the ice and immediate impact exemplify the qualities of perseverance and leadership that define an athlete of the week.
