Toronto – Bonnie Crombie, Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, has thrown her support behind Tyler Watt, a registered nurse and community advocate, following his official nomination as the Liberal candidate for Nepean. Crombie praised Watt for his dedication to public healthcare and his continued opposition to Premier Doug Ford’s policies, which she argues have negatively impacted healthcare, education, and support for families of children with autism.
In a social media post, Crombie commended Watt for being a “strong advocate for public healthcare” and noted his history of standing up to what she described as Ford’s “attacks on health care professionals, teachers, and families.” She highlighted Watt’s firsthand experience with the consequences of provincial budget cuts, given his background as a healthcare worker, and stressed the importance of electing representatives who prioritize community voices over government interests.
Tyler sees everyday the damage Ford’s cuts have wreaked on our health care system—and the impacts on patients.

“The people of Nepean deserve an MPP that brings their voice to the government, not the other way around,” Crombie stated. “I know Tyler will be that passionate voice, and I’m thrilled to have him as part of our Ontario Liberal team.”
Watt’s nomination comes at a crucial time for the Ontario Liberals as they seek to expand their influence and challenge the Progressive Conservatives ahead of the next provincial election. With Crombie’s recent ascension to party leadership, the Liberals aim to present a revitalized front, focusing on issues such as healthcare funding, education reform, and childcare support. Crombie has frequently criticized Ford’s government for what she sees as underfunding essential services, and Watt’s nomination aligns with her agenda to restore and improve these sectors.
As the campaign season progresses, all eyes will be on Nepean to see if Watt can sway voters and unseat the current Progressive Conservative representative. His candidacy represents not only a chance to win a seat but also a broader effort to revitalize the Ontario Liberal Party’s presence in the province.
Watt’s campaign is expected to prioritize healthcare improvements, addressing staffing shortages in hospitals, and advocating for better funding for education and autism support programs.
