The new kit is a first in Canada offering fresh, par-cooked and pre-cut ingredients while being guaranteed to get dinner on the table in 15 minutes or less. The convenient 15-minute meal kit targets the home meal replacement segment (HMR) valued at $4B.
According to the NPD group, 75 per cent of all in home meals are typically prepared in 15 minutes or less as Canadians rely on more shortcuts in the kitchen. As a result, sales of home meal replacement have hit record volumes. Until now, HMR only included grab-and-go, ready-made foods. With the launch of 15-minute meal kits, Chefs Plate expands options within the segment as well as its addressable market beyond the $70B grocery segment.

There, one in three existing Chefs Plate’s 30-minute meal kit customers are increasing the number of kits they order each week to include the 15-minute meal kit offering.
Fifteen-minute meal kits are available in two-person and family plan options. They are delivered to customers’ doors in refrigerated, recyclable boxes with step-by-step recipe instructions with ingredients like fresh produce that is washed and pre-cut, nutritious grains that are pre-cooked or sauces already prepared by Chefs Plate’s talented culinary team.
