The City of Toronto and its agencies responded to a six-alarm fire Tuesday and continue to address building issues and provide supports to the 1,500 residents who evacuated the building.
Last night, 205 residents stayed in hotel rooms and 90 residents stayed overnight at Wellesley and Regent Park Community Centres.
As of noon today, 635 displaced residents have registered for assistance or accommodations. Hotel rooms and short-term rentals have been secured for all current registrants. Residents who have registered and requested accommodation will be notified as hotels are assigned.
The City of Toronto thanks the hotel and short-term rental hosts who have provided 230 rooms thus far.
The Red Cross still requests that hotels and short-term rental hosts who have space contact 1-855-797-8875 as displaced residents may continue to register for accommodations.
Residents who have secured accommodations are asked to update their status and contact information by calling 1-855-797-8875.
This evening, residents who newly register and require overnight accommodation will be housed at the Regent Park Community Centre at 402 Shuter St., if other accommodations are not available.
Wellesley Community Centre will no longer be an overnight reception centre. However, building residents in need of assistance or accommodations should continue to register at Wellesley Community Centre at 495 Sherbourne St.
Displaced residents are encouraged to find accommodation with family and friends if possible. Toronto’s Office of Emergency Management along with the Red Cross are coordinating the provision of services to residents.
The supports provided to residents include:
• Help to acquire necessary medications
• Social service supports
• Comfort services including meals, quiet/sleeping rooms
• Provision of Metropasses and food vouchers
• Pet retrieval and housing until they can be re-united with their owners. Animal Services has provided supplies and will provide support as required
• Coordination with TTC for transportation as required
The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office remains on scene, working with the Toronto Fire Investigations team to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Toronto Fire has issued the immediate threat to life notice under the Fire Prevention and Protection Act and has evacuated the building until further notice.
Toronto Fire personnel will be onsite again today at 650 Parliament to accommodate the retrieval of personal items and vehicles.

Programming at Wellesley and Regent Park Community Centres
Summer camps at Wellesley Community Centre will operate as scheduled. Drop-in recreation programs may be cancelled and residents should contact the centre at 416-392-0227 to confirm program availability before attending.
Camps at Regent Park Community Centre will be accommodated at Nelson Mandela Park Public School. Drop-in programs have been cancelled.
Swim programs continue to be available at Pam McConnell Aquatic Centre and multi-sport drop-in programming is available at the Regent Park Athletic Grounds.
