City of Toronto recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers

The City of Toronto today was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, for the third year in a row, in The Globe and Mail’s feature magazine.

“I am pleased that the City of Toronto has been recognized once again as one of Canada’s top employers,” said Mayor John Tory. “Providing a positive workplace enables City staff to best deliver essential services and programs to our residents, business owners and visitors.”

Organized by MediaCorp Canada Inc., the 19th annual national competition assesses employers against other organizations that offer exceptional places to work for their staff. The competition also acknowledges employers whose workplace operations and human resource practices offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.

Employers are evaluated on: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social environment; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.

“The City of Toronto strives to offer a progressive and innovative workplace culture, so our employees can continue to improve and modernize the ways in which we serve the public,” said City Manager Chris Murray. “It’s a privilege to receive this award, and I am incredibly honoured to lead such a professional and dedicated Toronto Public Service.”
