City of Toronto recognizes caregivers at Caregiver Day event

Mayor John Tory, Councillor James Pasternak (Ward 10 York Centre), Chair of the City’s Community Development and Recreation Committee, and Councillor Josh Matlow (Ward 22 St. Paul’s), Toronto’s Seniors Advocate, will celebrate Caregiver Day and recognize caregivers who care for family and friends in need of support. The Mayor and Councillors will be joined by ENRICHES Collaborative, Family Caregiver Voice and over twelve other partner organizations.

Date: Tuesday, April 3
Time: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (registration begins at 9:30 a.m.)
Location: Toronto City Hall, Council Chamber, 100 Queen St. W.

The theme for this year’s event is Connecting Caregivers. The event will include an opportunity to hear inspirational stories from other caregivers and City officials, and to participate in activities that will connect caregivers with each other as well as with industry professionals. Activities will include a session to speed mentor with professionals, a Progress Panel to learn about new caregiver initiatives across Toronto and Ontario, and an interactive technology booth. Attendees will also be treated to onsite massages and a performance by comedian and magician Mark Correia.
