Elocity’s HIEV-Nano Platform Brings Next-Gen EV Charging to Ontario

Elocity’s HIEV-Nano Project Sparks a New Era for Smart, Affordable, and Resilient Charging

Made in Ontario – Homegrown EV Charging Tech Powers the Future
An EV charges at a smart vehicle-to-grid (V2G) station powered by Ontario-based innovation — part of Canada’s push for a cleaner, smarter energy future.

TORONTO – Ontario is accelerating the transition to electric vehicles with homegrown innovation. Toronto-based Elocity Technologies has launched a cutting-edge EV charging solution — HIEV-Nano — backed by nearly $2 million in funding from the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN) and strategic industry partners.

The multi-port, bidirectional system integrates solar power, battery storage, and smart grid technology. Designed to reduce costs and ease pressure on local grids, it’s being piloted at fleet depots, apartment complexes, and commercial sites across Ontario.

What Makes HIEV-Nano Different?

  • No costly grid upgrades required – balances energy demand in real-time

  • Bi-directional charging – supports Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G), Vehicle-to-Home (V2H), and Vehicle-to-Building (V2B)

  • Boosts grid resilience – integrates seamlessly with utilities and demand response programs

  • Reduces downtime and charging costs for fleet operators

  • Scalable for residential, commercial, and fleet use

The project is a collaboration between Elocity, Burlington Electricity Services Inc. (BESI), and Milton Energy & Generation Solutions Inc. (MEGS). With support from OVIN, they aim to revolutionize EV infrastructure while creating local engineering and manufacturing jobs.

Ontario’s EV Leadership

“Elocity is shaping the future of global EV charging with made-in-Ontario technology that addresses real-world challenges,” said Sanjeev Singh, Founder and CEO of Elocity. Backed by the Ontario government, this initiative signals confidence in the province’s role as a mobility technology leader.

Victor Fedeli, Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development, added:
“Ontario is protecting the future of our automotive sector and ensuring the cars of the future are made in Ontario, by Ontario workers.”

Significance: This investment underscores the province’s commitment to sustainable, future-ready transportation and local economic development — all while helping Ontarians plug into a cleaner, smarter future.
