All of Canada benefits when women and girls have the opportunity to reach their full potential. That’s why today, the Honourable Maryam Monsef, Minister of Status of Women, announced a project in Toronto to help young women further develop and use valuable leadership skills.
G(irls)20 is receiving $407,750 in Government of Canada funding for a 36-month project to provide young women aged 18-25 with meaningful leadership opportunities across Canada by connecting participants with boards of community organizations. Each participant will collaborate with the organization in reviewing a particular policy or program through a gender-based analysis (GBA) lens in order to enhance the use of GBA throughout the organization. As part of the project, volunteer boards and organizations will be engaged to consider gender equality when making decisions about their policies and programs. A pool of organizations interested in improving their board diversity will also be created, and best practices will be shared widely among volunteer organizations.
