TORONTO β With the regular season winding down, Raptors swingman RJ Barrett delivered one of his best performances since returning home to Toronto, earning him this weekβs GTA Weekly Athlete of the Week honors.
The 24-year-old Toronto native poured in 31 points on March 30 to lead the Raptors to a 127β109 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. Barrett was aggressive from the jump, attacking the paint, getting to the line, and knocking down key shots to help the Raptors extend their winning streak to four games β their best run in weeks.
While the 76ers have struggled in the absence of Joel Embiid and are now trailing the Raptors in the standings, Barrettβs performance still stood out for its efficiency and composure. Shooting over 50% from the field, he gave Raptors fans a glimpse of what a consistent, confident Barrett can bring to this franchise moving forward.
Teammate Jakob Poeltl also made a case with a strong 24-point, 12-rebound outing against Charlotte, but Barrettβs leadership and scoring in a back-to-back win sealed the nod.
GTA Weekly Athlete of the Week is awarded to the top-performing athlete from a GTA-based team or hometown talent making headlines on the national or international stage.
