| Dr. Roger Skinner, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Toronto West Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Mark Tomic.
Mr. Tomic, 32, died on July 1, 2015, at Sunnybrook Hospital while under police custody. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Tomic’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. Details regarding the date and location will be provided when the information becomes available. Dr. John Carlisle will preside as inquest coroner and Michael Blain will be counsel to the coroner. |
