Mayor Tory kicks off summer in Toronto with the opening of City outdoor pools

Mayor John Tory, joined by Councillor James Pasternak (Ward 6 York Centre), Chair of the Infrastructure and Environment Committee, Deputy Mayor Ana Bailão (Ward 9 Davenport), and members of the community kicked off the summer season at Giovanni Caboto Outdoor Pool with the opening of 56 outdoor pools and over 100 wading pools across the city.

All outdoor pools and wading pools will begin their full-time summer schedules on Saturday, June 29 and will remain open with varying schedules until Labour Day weekend. Supervised wading pool hours vary per location and can be found at toronto.ca/swim. Over 90 splash pads are open across the city and will remain open until September 16. Splash pads operate daily from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and are activated through push-button features.

Supervision or swimming ability requirements are in place for children under 10 years of age at all City outdoor pools. Leisure swimming is free for all ages. Caregivers are reminded to supervise children at all times in wading pools, splash pads and water play areas.

Media requests for filming of pools can be accommodated at the following locations:
• Alex Duff Memorial Outdoor Pool, 779 Crawford St.
• McGregor Park Outdoor Pool, 2231 Lawrence Ave. E.
• Sunnyside Gus Ryder Outdoor Pool, 1755 Lake Shore Blvd. W.

These designated locations will allow media to film from the pool deck without the need to call in advance. Media access will only be allowed at these locations and media must follow the instructions of staff at the site.

More information about pool hours, operations and locations is available at toronto.ca/swim or by calling 311.
