TORONTO – The Ontario government is investing $155 million over two years to license 57 new community surgical and diagnostic centres that will deliver publicly funded MRI and CT scans, and gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy procedures. The investment will help connect 1.2 million people to faster care, reducing wait times for vital procedures across the province.
Premier Doug Ford made the announcement at the Schroeder Ambulatory Centre in Richmond Hill, which is receiving $14 million to serve more than 115,000 patients over two years. Additional centre recipients will be announced in the coming weeks.

The expansion will add up to 828,000 MRI and CT scans, and 420,000 GI endoscopy procedures over two years. Centres will operate under rigorous oversight and integrate with the broader public health system to ensure seamless care for patients.
