Ontario’s PSE educators gather at annual Technology Enabled Seminar and Showcase (TESS)

Technology Enabled Seminar + Showcase (CNW Group/eCampusOntario)

TORONTONov. 16, 2017 /CNW/ – On Monday, November 20th, educators from Ontario’s colleges and universities will congregate at Toronto’s Beanfield Centre for eCampusOntario’s annual Technology Enabled Seminar and Showcase.

The two-day event features an exciting lineup of speakers from across North America and will celebrate the achievements of Ontario’s PSE institutions in online and technology-enabled teaching and learning.

In addition, this open seminar is intended to build institutional capacity while empowering educators, administrators and technologists to explore the full potential of online and technology-enabled teaching and learning. The conference consists of over 60 exploratory professional development sessions and will cover a diverse range of topics, including:

  • Zed Cred, courses and programs free of textbook costs
  • Open publishing, tools and infrastructure which promote the creation and adaptation of open educational resources, including open textbooks
  • Student co-creation of content
  • Augmented and virtual reality in the classroom
  • Licensing: Copyright + Creative Commons (public copyright licenses which give permission to freely share, use, and build upon a creative work)
  • Open pedagogy, teaching and learning practices only possible in the context of the free access and 5R permissions (retain, reuse, revise, remix, redistribute)
  • Inclusive design, design concepts which consider the full range of human diversity
  • Innovations in skills training

A cornerstone of TESS is the fostering of collaborative practices amongst colleges and universities. The showcase will provide an opportunity for educators, designers, administrators, librarians, and other key stakeholders to dialogue, interact, and present their passion projects in the field of technology enabled-learning.

TESS17 will take place from November 20-21, 2017 at the Beanfield Centre, located at 100 Princes’ Blvd, Toronto, ON, M6K 3C3.
