The decision of The President of the United States Donald Trump to kill Iran”s Major General, Qasem Soleimani, 61 their military Leader, by a drone strike … is a dangerous move. “His hands are soaked in blood.” asserts Trump inter alia. Mr. Donald Trump was addressing the world on the crisis trying to justify his ordered murderous drone attack. Trump’s motivations to attack Iran seem on the surface to be not based on credible facts. Is Obama his real aim?

Self Defence

Self defence is quite legal, but to assassinate a foreign citizen based on suspicion could be viewed as a violation of international law. Trump produced no evidence to support his claims. Is this a case of “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”

Peace Treaty

Soleimani has been on the radar or crossbar for the Americans. President Obama considered taking out this alleged terrorist before. Obama was for peace and not to use his power corruptly. Trump wants to project a tough guy image. He (Trump) appears to want to erase the achievements of his predecessor in the White House the forty fourth (44) president of the USA. Obama had successfully inked a peace packed with the Iranians. Trump tore up this Peace Treaty.

Impeachment

It is an established fact that President Trump has been impeached and could be removed from office if the Senate voted to remove him. This is not likely to happen as the Republicans hold a majority in the Senate. It is being speculated that this drone strike on Iran’s Military leader could be a diversion tactic to divert attention from President Trump’s impeachment. This is not a new strategy. It has been used by media savvy individuals and media/pr experts who advise their clients when in trouble to hatch a diversion scheme. We have no evidence that this is the case. This possible position is, however, not far fetched.

Disingenuous

Utterance by Trump in an address today Wednesday January 8, widely watched by millions wanting to hear his response to the retaliation by Iran to the drone killing ordered by Trump. The Iranians had launched surface to air rockets in retaliation. No lives were reportedly taken out. President Trump confirmed this fact.

Billions Paid …

Trump said billions were paid by the US under President Obama to Iran has been used to terrorize and kill Americans. This is false … blatantly false. Money paid to Iran was ordered to be so paid by the Courts. It consist of principal withheld by the US due to economic sanctions imposed by the US. It is not America’s taxpayer’s money.

As the fall out has occurred it is not known if the Iranians will retaliate or when. This attack could have dangerous repercussions for regional or world peace.

This is not the greatest of strikes.
