Ottawa – Pierre Poilievre, leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, has launched a scathing attack on the federal government, accusing Liberal appointees of corruption after an Auditor General report alleged $400 million in taxpayer money was awarded to companies connected to those in power. Poilievre took to social media to voice his concerns and rally support, posting on X (formerly Twitter) about the issue on October 8, 2024.
In the post, he claimed that the Liberal government is obstructing an investigation by withholding crucial evidence from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Poilievre suggested that the involvement of politically connected individuals in the distribution of funds amounted to a misuse of public resources.
“The Auditor General found that Liberal appointees gave $400 million tax dollars to companies they were involved in. And now the government is refusing to turn over evidence to the RCMP,” Poilievre stated in his post.
