Premier Doug Ford Meets with President of Israel Reuven Rivlin

TORONTO — Today, Premier Doug Ford issued the following statement following a bilateral meeting with the President of Israel, Reuven Rivlin:

“I was pleased to meet with President Rivlin today. Our successful meeting was a great opportunity to discuss the strong friendship and long-standing partnership between Ontario and Israel.

We share many common priorities and interests, including our commitment to enhancing trade and creating a business-friendly environment that promotes investment, innovation and job creation. Israel is one of Ontario’s top trading partners in the Middle East and I am pleased that this trade relationship has been growing in recent years, supported by the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement.

During our meeting, we also reflected on Ontario’s good fortune to have large and active Jewish and Israeli communities that act as important bridges between our economies and societies. Maintaining these strong economic, political, cultural and social ties will strengthen our trade and investment relationship, and support innovation and collaboration across various sectors.

President Rivlin’s visit with a delegation of more than 20 business leaders shows one more way Ontario is open for business and open for jobs. I look forward to growing our partnership to benefit people and businesses across Ontario and Israel.”
