TORONTO — On February 10th, Premier Doug Ford issued the following statement to mark the Lunar New Year:
“Today Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and many other communities across the province are gathering to celebrate the beginning of a new year in the Lunar Calendar. It’s a special time for people to join family and friends, exchange gifts and meals, decorate their homes, and prepare to welcome health and good fortune in the year ahead.
Today I celebrated Chinese New Year in York Region with @DaisyWai_, @Billy__Pang and members from our PC caucus team.
It was great to join the local Chinese community as we welcome the Year of the Dragon!
Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous #ChineseNewYear2024. pic.twitter.com/p3v0q6q7A9

In Ontario, we celebrate the strength of our diversity, and the many contributions that communities of Asian descent make to our province. Their impact is felt in multiple sectors, enriches our social fabric and helps make Ontario the best place in the world to live, work and raise a family.
2024 is the Year of the Dragon and is considered a symbol of strength, courage, and good fortune. On behalf of the Government of Ontario we wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous Year of the Dragon!”
