Mississauga, April 6, 2023 – Rabba returns today to the Mississauga Food Bank with a truck-full of eggs, courtesy of Burnbrae Farms. The donation, 5,400 eggs to be exact, builds on a partnership that goes back to 1986 and has become an annual tradition for the two Ontario-based family companies.
“We’re in business to feed and serve our neighbours”, says Rima Rabba, who co-leads the company’s community giving program, Rabba Roots. “When we can do so through donations, we make sure we do and invite our partners to do the same. As we’ve seen with Maple Leaf Foods’ donation earlier this week and today with Burnbrae, we are truly surrounded by wonderful, supportive partners.”
The Mississauga Food Bank recently relocated to a larger location to meet a dramatic increase in food bank usage. This February alone the food bank saw 13,850 visitors which represents a 44% increase over the same month last year.
“Every donation makes a world of difference,” says Meghan Nicholls, CEO at The Mississauga Food Bank. “Given the growing need, we’re calling on all our longstanding partners to help us reach out to find new donors. We cannot thank Rabba, Maple Leaf Foods and Burnbrae enough for doing exactly that, year after year.”
“Partnering with Rabba Roots for this annual Easter egg donation has become very important to us,” said Margaret Hudson, President & CEO of Burnbrae Farms. “We appreciate partners like Rabba who share our concern for local communities we both serve year-round with quality, nutritious food from our local farms.”
The two Ontario-based companies agreed that they would continue to explore new ways to support local and regional foodbanks.
