Roots Donates $500,000 in Products to Frontline Healthcare Workers; Repurposes its Canadian Factory to Produce Non-Medical Masks; and Donates Medical-Grade Masks

Company gives back to the local healthcare community through the comfort of its products and by leveraging its Canadian design and manufacturing capabilities

TORONTOApril 29, 2020 /CNW/ – Roots (“Roots Canada” or the “Company”) (TSX: ROOT), the premium outdoor lifestyle brand, today announced that, as a proud Canadian-born Company, it continues its more than four decades of supporting its local community, donating half-a-million dollars of products to frontline healthcare workers, locally manufacturing non-medical masks and donating medical-grade masks.

We are proud to be doing our part to support the amazing Canadian frontline healthcare workers who are sacrificing so much and working tirelessly through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Roots has donated $500,000 in products to be repurposed as scrubs at local Canadian medical facilities. In addition, the Company has worked with key partners to donate numerous “Comfort Kits” filled with Roots products to frontline healthcare workers.

To help preserve the supply of medical-grade face masks for healthcare workers, the Company launched a special initiative at its Toronto, Canada-based leather factory. Roots has repurposed the facility, in accordance with appropriate health and safety guidelines, to produce non-medical, washable and reusable face masks, all designed and made in Canada by Roots employees. The Company’s first round of production sold out within hours. In further commitment to help offset shortages of face masks required within the medical community, through the purchase of Roots non-medical masks the Company is donating 3,000 medical-grade masks to local medical facilities.
