BRAMPTON, ON — The Brampton Steelheads added a trio of promising young talents on Day 1 of the 2025 OHL Priority Selection Presented by Real Canadian Superstore, selecting defenceman Peter Green, forward Keaton Ardagh, and goaltender Lucas Johnson with their first three picks.
With the 14th overall pick, the Steelheads chose Peter Green, a dynamic defenceman from the Don Mills Flyers. Green, who captained the Flyers to a GTHL Championship, became the first defenceman selected in the draft. Known for his leadership and offensive ability from the blue line, the Toronto native tallied 24 points (13 goals, 11 assists) in 25 games this season.
The Steelheads followed up immediately with the 15th overall pick, selecting Keaton Ardagh, a skilled right winger from the Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Ardagh recorded 45 points (24 goals, 21 assists) in 28 games and played a pivotal role in helping the Jr. Canadiens capture the 2025 OHL Cup title. His combination of size, skill, and two-way play makes him a strong addition to the Steelheads’ forward core.
With the 39th overall pick in the second round, Brampton turned to the crease, selecting Lucas Johnson, a standout netminder from the Chicago Reapers. Johnson, the first goaltender taken in the draft, finished his season with a 28-6-0 record, a 1.76 goals-against average, and a .916 save percentage. He becomes the third top-ranked goalie selected by Brampton in the last four years, following Ryerson Leenders (2022) and Jack Ivankovic (2023).
The trio represents a balanced investment in the team’s future — from the blue line to the net. As the Steelheads continue to build their identity in Brampton, all three prospects are expected to play pivotal roles in shaping the next chapter of the franchise.
