The Government of Quebec awards $ 575,000 for the 2019 Montreal Judo Grand Prix

MONTREAL, July 5 2019 / CNW Telbec / – The Government of Quebec is pleased to announce the award of $ 575,000 in financial support for the organization of the 2019 Montreal Judo Grand Prix, which runs from July 5 to 7.

The Minister for Education and Minister responsible for Status of Women, M me  Isabelle Charest , the Minister for Transport and Minister responsible for Greater Montreal and the Montreal area, M me  Chantal Rouleau, and Tourism Minister M me  Caroline Proulx , made the announcement today.

The 2019 Montreal Judo Grand Prix is a mixed international competition that is part of the world’s most prestigious judo circuit. Sanctioned by the International Judo Federation, this event, which brings together nearly 500 athletes from more than 60 countries, is a pivotal step in the qualification process for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The event in Quebec is a first in Canada.

To support the 2019 Montreal Judo Grand Prix, the Department of Education and Advanced Learning is providing $ 400,000 through the International Sport Events Support Program . The Metropolitan Secretariat of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing is contributing $ 100,000 from the Greater Montreal Initiative and Outreach Fund , plus $ 75,000. by the Ministry of Tourism under the Financial Assistance Program for Festivals and Tourism Events .
