Several special events in Toronto this weekend will involve road closures. Residents and visitors are encouraged to come out and enjoy these events. Businesses in the affected areas are open to pedestrian traffic but some roads will be closed to vehicles.
Festivals and other special events are important to the city, injecting hundreds of millions of dollars annually into Toronto’s economy, and they are enjoyed each year by local residents and visitors.
In addition to road closures related to special events, a significant amount of road work is taking place in the city. People are encouraged to take public transit as a greener, faster and more affordable way of getting to their destinations.
Those who need to drive in the general vicinity of special events should allow extra time to get to and from their destinations. A more complete list of events and road work is available at

Santa Claus Parade
Bloor Street West from Christie Street to Ossington Avenue will be closed Sunday, November 19 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accommodate the Santa Claus Parade setup and formation area.
The parade route includes a number of road closures from 12:30 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, as follows:
• Bloor Street West from Christie Street to Queen’s Park
• Queen’s Park/University Avenue from Bloor Street West to Wellington Street West (including Queen’s Park Crescent)
• Wellington Street West from University Avenue to Yonge Street
• Yonge Street from Wellington Street to Front Street
• Front Street from Yonge Street to Jarvis Street.
Additional closures to accommodate the parade staging and dispersal will include:
• Front Street East, from Jarvis Street to Sherbourne Street from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Queens Quay’s eastbound curb lane will be closed from Lower Jarvis Street to Parliament Street from 2 to 6 p.m.
• Lower Jarvis Street from Front Street East to The Esplanade will be closed from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Holly Jolly Run
On Sunday, November 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Bremner Boulevard from York Street to Lake Shore Boulevard West will be closed to accommodate the Holly Jolly Run finish line at Maple Leaf Square and the dispersal area. Local access to the parking garages servicing the Telus and Maple Leaf Square buildings will be provided.
The run will start at 11:45 a.m. and will be routed along the following roads that are also closed for the Santa Claus parade:
• Bloor Street West from Christie Street to Queen’s Park
• Queen’s Park/University Avenue/York Street from Bloor Street to Bremner Boulevard
Illuminite at Yonge-Dundas Square
Dundas Square from Yonge Street to O’Keefe Lane will be closed on Friday, November 17 from noon to 11 p.m. and Saturday, November 18 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. for this event.
Bloor-Yorkville BIA – Holiday Magic
Cumberland Street from Old York Lane to 120 Cumberland St. will be closed on Saturday, November 18 from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m. for this event.
