VAUGHAN – With school nearly out and summer on the horizon, families across the Greater Toronto Area are signing up for one of the season’s most beloved traditions: YMCA Summer Camps. This year, the Y is operating over 40 camp locations across the GTA, including standout sites like YMCA Cedar Glen and the always-popular Toronto Island.
For families looking to press pause on screens and plug into nature instead, YMCA Summer Day Camps provide children aged 4 to 15 with opportunities to try something new, build friendships, and grow their confidence outdoors. Campers can dive into activities ranging from sports, outdoor adventure, and fire building to swimming, archery, arts and crafts, and even hands-on cooking.
Family Camp at Cedar Glen: Where Parents and Kids Unplug Together
Beyond day camp, YMCA Family Camp at Cedar Glen offers a rare chance for parents and children to connect through shared experiences. Think campfires, marshmallow roasting, hiking, archery, and story time under the stars—all at a scenic retreat just outside the city.
There’s something for every member of the family. Activities include:
-
Adventure Challenges like climbing and guided hikes
-
Creative Time with arts & crafts for all ages
-
Classic Camp Moments with sing-alongs and s’mores around the fire
For families seeking an immersive overnight experience, the YMCA also offers Overnight Camps at both Cedar Glen and Camp Pine Crest. These give kids and teens a chance to explore canoeing, rock climbing, leadership development, and more in a safe and supportive environment.
Spaces Still Available
Spots remain open for both YMCA Summer Day Camp and Family Camp, but registration is moving quickly. Families are encouraged to explore the full summer guide at ymcagta.org/Yguide to learn more about locations, programs, and availability.
Whether it’s a week-long day camp, a weekend with family, or an overnight stay in nature, the YMCA is helping GTA families reclaim summer—with purpose, play, and a whole lot of fresh air.
