We are back in Budapest Hungary for the 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix for FP2 (Practice 2), the 13th race of the season.
Practice 2 Brief
All teams are out on the track… I see teams fitting the cars with medium tires.. Greenlight and here we go. The 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix FP2 is underway.
The pace is picking, times are starting to drop off and the track… Well, weather pattern can change in a heartbeat.!
The technical tacticians will start thinking of tyre strategies and time management for the race ahead on Sunday and collect a significant amount of data.
There is one DRS (drag reduction system) detection zones that could give drivers an extra boost down the straights. As much as 14-16 kph and one “Hairpin” 180 degrees.
Be on the lookout for turns 1 and 5. Drivers are having a challenging time trying to control the rounding of the corners and bends. We are seeing drivers locking up and drivers going wide, so taming these corners will be key to the race.
35 mins into the session Leclerc, Norris and Alonso set the fastest flying laps out there as Verstappen sets off on his flying lap and fourth is the best he can do.
Hmm! Playing coy! Or is it the track we shall see! It is getting congested and heated out there as the temperature in drivers’ verbal cords rise! Love it!
CHEQUERED FLAG: We have mixed bags of teams and carriages to round out the top five.
Leclerc, the fastest on the timesheet for this session with a time of 1:18.662,
Norris of McLaren follows with a time of 1:18.662.
Sainz, Verstappen and Ricciardo all finish within .28 secs of each other. What a sensational session!
