MISSISSAUGA ā Subaru Canada is charging forward in the EV race with a bold refresh of its all-electric SUV. The newly announced 2026 Subaru Solterra comes with a starting MSRP of $52,495, marking a $4,000 price drop compared to the outgoing 2024 model ā a rare move in todayās EV market.
But the price cut isnāt the only headline. Subaru has packed the 2026 Solterra with significant upgrades in range, power, and charging capability ā all while improving cabin tech and keeping its legendary all-wheel-drive pedigree.
More Power, Less Wait
The upgraded Solterra now delivers 338 combined horsepower, a 57% increase from the previous model, thanks to re-engineered front and rear motors. This boost cuts the 0-100 km/h time to under 5 seconds, putting it squarely in performance EV territory.
Range has also improved substantially. Powered by a 77.0-kWh lithium-ion battery, the Solterra now achieves up to 446 km of range (NRCan-estimated) ā a 25% jump that brings it closer to segment leaders.
For Canadian winters, Subaru introduces a battery preconditioning system, helping maintain optimal charging speed in colder temperatures. A new North American Charging Standard (NACS) port allows access to over 15,000 Tesla Superchargers, and DC fast-charging now takes the battery from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes under ideal conditions.
Tech and Comfort Upgrades
The 2026 model debuts an all-new 14-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also introduces wireless 15W smartphone charging, rear USB-C ports, and a long list of safety features from Subaruās updated EyeSight driver-assistance suite ā including Pre-Collision Braking, Traffic Jam Assist, and Lane Change Assist.
EV Meets Off-Road Ready
Subaru hasnāt abandoned its rugged roots. The Solterra retains 210 mm of ground clearance and adds an upgraded X-MODE system with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud drive modes. With revised suspension and improved steering feedback, it blends urban EV efficiency with true all-terrain capability.
Styling That Signals Change
The front fascia gets a modern redesign, highlighted by a new six-star illuminated logo, sharp LED headlamps, and a more aerodynamic silhouette. Optional two-tone paint and available 20-inch alloy wheels add premium curb appeal, while body-colour wheel arch moldings sharpen the SUVās city styling.
Inside, the cabin is brighter and more refined. An open greenhouse, updated finishes, and expanded console storage modernize the user experience without sacrificing Subaruās functional design.
