BRAMPTON — The Brampton Honey Badgers are bringing local talent home, announcing the signing of Vaughan native and Arkansas State standout Taryn Todd ahead of the upcoming Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season.

Todd, a dynamic two-way guard, joins the Honey Badgers after a standout collegiate career in the United States. Most recently, he led the Arkansas State Red Wolves in scoring with 14.7 points per game, earning a spot on the All-Sun Belt Conference First Team. Over the course of his five-year college journey, Todd also suited up for Northwest Florida State College, the University of New Mexico, and Texas Christian University.

“I’m excited to come home and get my professional journey started in Brampton,” Todd said. “Their focus on winning and development are both things that I feel can help push me in the right direction. I’ve had a great time playing in the States, but coming back to Canada is special for me.”

Todd helped guide Arkansas State to a 25-11 record this past season, reaching the Sun Belt Tournament Finals and advancing to the NIT Sweet 16 before a narrow two-point loss to the University of North Texas ended their run. Throughout his collegiate career, Todd averaged 9.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists across 162 games.

Honey Badgers General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Jermaine Anderson praised Todd’s versatility. “Taryn is a spark plug who has the ability to score and accelerate the pace of the game,” Anderson said. “We’re excited to welcome him back home and help develop his game, while providing an opportunity for Taryn to gain valuable pro experience.”

Todd’s addition marks the eighth Canadian to sign with Brampton for the upcoming campaign. His signing follows the Honey Badgers’ recent draft picks of U SPORTS talents Yohann Sam (University of Windsor), Conner Landell (University of New Brunswick), and Mike Demagus (McMaster University).

The Honey Badgers tip off their 2025 season on May 18 in Montreal, followed by a trip to Ottawa to face the BlackJacks on May 21. Brampton’s home opener at the CAA Centre is set for later that week against the Scarborough Shooting Stars.
