BRAMPTON — The Brampton Honey Badgers are adding size, skill, and seasoned leadership to their lineup with the signing of forward Bryson Williams, a former Saskatchewan Rattler and All-Big 12 First Team standout.

The team announced the deal ahead of Friday’s highly anticipated matchup against the Rattlers—Williams’ former squad—set to take place during South Asian Night at the CAA Centre. The 6-foot-8 forward will suit up alongside newly acquired guard Marcus Carr, forming a dynamic duo as Brampton pushes forward in the 2025 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) campaign.

A World-Traveled Pro with Canadian Roots

Though his 2024 CEBL stint with Saskatchewan was brief, Williams made a big impression. In just six games, he averaged 16.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in under 28 minutes per game. He dropped 23 points on two occasions, including a standout performance on June 15, 2024, against Vancouver—putting up 23 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals in just 17 minutes.

“Although my time in the CEBL last season was short, I really enjoyed the experience and I’m looking forward to another round of it in Brampton,” said Williams. “My career has taken me all over the world but something about playing in Canada is special and I don’t take this for granted.”

That global career includes 149 pro games across Turkey, Israel, France, the NBA Summer League, and the NBA G League. Most recently, Williams played 42 games for Petkim in the Turkish BSL, where he recorded a career-high 30 points on 12-for-15 shooting and earned Player of the Week honours.

Experience and Leadership Added to the Roster

Williams has also logged 72 games with the NBA G League’s Ontario Clippers, winning the 2024 Showcase Cup and scoring in double figures 37 times.

“Bryson brings toughness, energy and leadership,” said Jermaine Anderson, Honey Badgers General Manager and VP of Basketball Operations. “His pro experience and mental approach to the game will be a great addition to our team and locker room.”

A Collegiate Resume That Stands Out

A five-year NCAA veteran, Williams played for Fresno State, UTEP, and Texas Tech. He earned All-Conference honours at all three stops and helped lead Texas Tech to the Sweet 16 in 2022. That season, he averaged 14.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, and earned spots on the All-Big 12 First Team, Big 12 All-Newcomer Team, and the Big 12 All-Tournament Team.

What’s Next: South Asian Night & Family Day

Williams will make his Honey Badgers debut this Friday, June 20, when Brampton hosts the Saskatchewan Rattlers at the CAA Centre. The game also marks South Asian Night, a key event on the team’s promotional calendar.

Brampton will return to action quickly with a Family Day game on Sunday, June 22 against the Ottawa BlackJacks, led by Zane Waterman.
