By-election nominations for two Toronto French-language school board trustee positions close 2 p.m. Friday

The deadline to file or withdraw a nomination for the French language public school trustee, Conseil scolaire Viamonde (Ward 3 – Centre), and French language Catholic school trustee, Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir (Ward 4 – Toronto Est) by-election is Friday, December 9 at 2 p.m. The by-election is scheduled for Monday, January 23, 2023.

Nominations and withdrawals can be filed up to December 9 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Toronto Elections Office on the first floor of Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St. W. Individuals filing or withdrawing nominations on that date must bring all required documents and identification with them and ensure their forms are complete. After 2 p.m., no additional nominations or withdrawals will be accepted.

To become a school trustee candidate in the by-election, a person must:
•       File a nomination paper with original signature
•       Acknowledge they have French-language education rights
•       Be listed with the correct school support on the assessment rolls
•       Provide proof of qualifying address within the school board’s area of jurisdiction
•       Pay the $100 nomination filing fee.

The final list of candidates will be available by 4 p.m. on December 12 on the List of Candidates & Third Party Advertiser’s webpage: www.toronto.ca/city-government/elections/by-election/by-election-candidate-list/.

Third-party advertiser registration remains open until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 20.
