TRENT HILLS — The Ontario government has announced plans to build a new, state-of-the-art Campbellford Memorial Hospital, marking a major milestone in its $60 billion commitment to build and upgrade more than 50 hospitals across the province.

As part of the 2025 Ontario Budget: A Plan to Protect Ontario, the new hospital will better connect patients in Trent Hills, Northumberland, Peterborough, and Hastings Counties to high-quality care, modernized emergency services, and expanded inpatient facilities — all close to home.

“Today’s announcement is a major step toward delivering a new, state-of-the-art Campbellford Memorial Hospital that will be transformational for the people of Trent Hills and across the region,” said Premier Doug Ford.

The facility is being developed on a new site and is expected to feature:

  • A modern emergency department

  • A new inpatient medical wing

  • Expanded community care services

  • Enhanced infection prevention and control measures

  • A health care campus designed to meet the needs of a growing and aging population

Deputy Premier and Health Minister Sylvia Jones said the investment underscores Ontario’s focus on accessible, community-based care. “By investing to build a brand-new Campbellford Memorial Hospital, we are making it faster and easier for more people and their families to access world-class care in their community.”

The new facility is currently in the early planning phase. The Ministry of Health is working with Campbellford Memorial Hospital to determine project specifications, including the number of beds and total square footage.

“This is a promise made and a promise kept,” said David Piccini, MPP for Northumberland—Peterborough South. “This will not just bring a new hospital to our community, but a ‘Campus of Care’ that will serve our region for decades to come.”

The Campbellford project is part of Ontario’s Your Health: A Plan for Connected and Convenient Care, which is focused on ensuring that Ontarians receive faster access to care and services wherever they live.

“Our investment towards a new Campbellford Memorial Hospital is pivotal,” added Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy, “as it will ensure that individuals and families across the region are connected to a stronger and more resilient health care system they can rely on.”
