The City of Toronto and local Councillors will host a total of 45 Community Environment Days this year across the city’s 25 wards, providing residents with opportunities to drop off items for reuse, recycling and safe disposal. The first event will be held on Saturday, April 15 and the final event will take place on Sunday, September 24.
In addition to the local events, the City will host six Community Environment Days at Drop-off Depots on Sundays in July and August.
Residents can bring items such as books, sporting goods, clothing and textiles for donation, electronics such as computer monitors and cell phones for recycling, and household hazardous waste such as batteries, paint, propane tanks, solvents and glue for proper disposal.
Kitchen containers for organics will be available for purchase and free loose or bagged compost will be available while supplies last. The compost is made from yard waste and organic material collected at the curb across Toronto.
In 2022, ward-based events collected 102,215 kg of reusable household goods, 107,775 kg of electronics and 327,520 kg of household hazardous waste. Drop-Off Depot events collected 6,148 kg of reusable household goods, 7,610 kg of electronics and 16,445 kg of household hazardous waste.
