The City of Toronto has issued 2021 interim property tax bills – the first of two tax bills mailed annually.
Payment due dates for the interim tax bills under the regular three-instalment plan are March 1, April 1 and May 3. For property owners enrolled in the Pre-Authorized Tax Payment (PTP) program, the 2021 interim tax due dates are:
• Two-instalment plan: March 1
• Six-instalment plan: March 1, April 1, May 3
• Eleven-instalment plan: February 16, March 15, April 15, May 17, June 15
The 2021 City Budget, including property tax increases, will be finalized and approved by City Council at its meeting on February 18. The remainder of the 2021 property tax will then be billed in May and will include the final payment dates.
Property owners can make payments through their bank or financial institution using online banking, telephone banking, at a teller or ATM. Payments can also be made by enrolling in our pre-authorized payment program (PTP), or by mailing a cheque. Payment counters and payment drop boxes at Toronto City Hall, Toronto Metro Hall and all civic centres remain closed due to COVID-19 restrictions. Payments submitted by mail need to reach the City before the due date to avoid late fees and penalties.
Property owners who are enrolled in the pre-authorized payment program and who have recently moved are reminded to update their property account information with the City or with their financial institution to avoid penalties and fees from payments applied to the wrong property.
