Canada's Best Diversity Employers (2023) (CNW Group/Mediacorp Canada Inc.)

The City of Toronto has been named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for 2023, in recognition of its diverse workplace, as well as its inclusive and equitable culture. This is the seventh time that the City has earned this recognition since 2016.

Organized by Mediacorp Canada Inc., this competition recognizes employers from across Canada for their successful diversity initiatives in a variety of areas, including programs for women, equity-deserving groups, people with disabilities, Indigenous Peoples and 2SLGBTQ+ individuals.

Mediacorp editors reviewed diversity and inclusion initiatives from employers who applied for the Canada’s Top 100 Employers national competition to determine this year’s winners. A shortlist was compiled and the candidates’ programs were compared to those of other employers in the same field. The finalists selected, as announced in a special Globe and Mail magazine today, represent the diversity leaders in their industry and region of Canada.

The City offers an inclusive and accessible workplace culture where employees feel respected, empowered, and valued, while working together to make a difference. Specific equity and inclusion initiatives for City employees include support networks for staff who share a common identity or lived experienced, mentorship programs, and recruitment strategies to foster a diverse workforce. The City also promotes and supports continued learning opportunities for staff related to equity, diversity, inclusion and reconciliation.

More information on working at the City and career opportunities is available on the City’s website: https://jobs.toronto.ca.
