City of Toronto to open 10 outdoor pools tomorrow

To help residents enjoy the summer weather and get outside, the City of Toronto will open 10 outdoor pools tomorrow, Saturday, June 18.

These 10 pools will run on a partial schedule (evening and weekends). The remaining 45 outdoor City pools will open on Saturday, June 25, also on a partial schedule.

Full schedules will begin at all City outdoor pools when the school year concludes, on Thursday, June 30 when 55 City outdoor pools will be open for residents to enjoy this summer. Wading pools will also open on June 30. Splash and spray pads across the City are open now.

As of tomorrow, the following 10 outdoor pools will be open on a partial schedule. Check each location for hours of operation on the City’s Swim & Water Play webpage:

•       Alex Duff Memorial Pool – 779 Crawford St.
•       Grandravine Community Recreation Centre – 23 Grandravine Dr.
•       Heron Park Community Centre – 292 Manse Rd.
•       High Park Outdoor Pool – 1873 Bloor St. W
•       Kiwanis Outdoor Pool – 375 Cedervale Ave.
•       McGregor Park Community Centre – 2231 Lawrence Ave. E.
•       Monarch Park Outdoor Pool – 115 Felstead Ave.
•       Parkway Forest Community Centre – 59 Forest Manor Rd.
•       Pine Point Outdoor Pool – 15 Grierson Rd.
•       West Mall Outdoor Pool – 370 The West Mall

Residents visiting City outdoor pools are reminded that:
•       Supervision and/or swimming ability requirements are in place for children under 10 years of age at all City outdoor pools.
•       Outdoor leisure swimming is free for all ages and reservations are not required.
•       Outdoor lane swim is free and open to swimmers aged seven years and older for swimming continuous lengths or widths.
•       Caregivers should supervise children at all times.
•       Pool visitors should listen to the on-duty lifeguards.

Reservations are available for lane swim and Aquafit only. New reservation spots are released Thursday mornings at 8 a.m. for the following Monday to Sunday.

Critical repairs to two outdoor pools this summer will result in Gord and Irene Risk Community Centre Outdoor Pool and Ledbury Park Outdoor Pool to be closed for the season. Donald D. Summerville Olympic Pools and Riverdale Park East Outdoor Pool are expected to open later this summer as they undergo unexpected and needed repairs. The 50-metre pool at Donald D. Summerville Olympic Pool will not open this season, but the 25-metre pool and the dive tank will be open for residents to enjoy.

Residents can continue to participate in lane and leisure programs at a pool near these locations. City staff have worked to relocate instructional programming and any permit holders to these nearby pools and added programming where needed. More information can be found on the City’s website:

Media requests to film pools can be accommodated at the following locations:
•       Alex Duff Memorial Outdoor Pool, 779 Crawford St.
•       McGregor Park Outdoor Pool, 2231 Lawrence Ave. E.
•       Monarch Park Outdoor Pool, 115 Felstead Ave.

These designated locations will allow media to film from the pool deck without the need to call in advance. Media access will be allowed at these locations only and media must follow the instructions of staff at the site.
