As the Civic Holiday long weekend rolls in, many residents are planning barbecues, road trips, or just a relaxing Monday at home. Here’s your quick guide to what’s open and closed across the Greater Toronto Area on Monday, August 4, 2025.


Grocery Stores & Essentials

OPEN

  • Rabba Fine Foods – All 37 locations across the GTA will be open for your grocery needs, including BBQ and picnic essentials. Many are open 24/7.

  • Farm Boy – Select urban locations open (check local listings).

  • Whole Foods – Open with reduced hours.

  • Al Premium Food Mart (Etobicoke, Mississauga) – Open.

  • Most Asian and South Asian grocers – Open, hours may vary.

CLOSED

  • Loblaws, Metro, No Frills, Sobeys, FreshCo – Most major chains will be closed on Monday.


LCBO & Beer Stores

CLOSED

  • All LCBO and Beer Store locations will be closed for the Civic Holiday.

Open Alternatives

  • Local breweries and select winery bottle shops may remain open.

  • Convenience stores selling alcohol may still operate.


Shopping Malls & Retail

OPEN

  • Eaton Centre (Toronto) – Open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Vaughan Mills – Open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Square One (Mississauga) – Open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Toronto Premium Outlets (Halton Hills) – Open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Pacific Mall (Markham) – Open regular hours.

CLOSED

  • Yorkdale Mall, Scarborough Town Centre, Sherway Gardens, and Fairview Mall – Closed on Civic Holiday Monday.


Public Transit

TTC

  • Running on holiday schedule. Subway service begins at 8:00 a.m.

  • No subway closures planned.

GO Transit

  • Will operate on a Saturday schedule for trains and buses.

MiWay, Brampton Transit, YRT

  • Operating on holiday schedules. Check local websites for route-specific info.


Parks, Attractions & Family Fun

OPEN

  • Toronto Zoo, Ripley’s Aquarium, CN Tower, ROM, AGO – Open with regular or holiday hours.

  • Ontario Place – Open.

  • High Park, Centennial Park, Bluffer’s Park, Lakefront Trails – All City parks remain open.

  • Toronto Island ferries – Running on holiday schedule.
