DDSB In-Person Schools Closed on Tuesday, January 18

School Bus driving in snow

After careful consideration of the health and safety risks to both students and staff due to current road conditions, the Durham District School Board has made the decision to close all schools to in-person learning on Tuesday, January 18. We ask that parents please do not send their children to school.

  • In-person elementary schools will be closed, and students will not participate in remote learning.
  • In-person secondary schools will shift to a remote learning day. Students should log into their Google Classroom at their designated start time.
  • DDSB@Home schools will remain open to learning. Students should log into their Google Classroom at their designated start time.

While we understand that multiple municipalities in Durham Region had indicated that roads would be clear by the morning and we hoped that the situation would improve for safe commutes to be possible, that is not the situation this morning.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we have sought to make the best decision both for students who have experienced significant disruption to their learning during the pandemic and the impact that the current snow situation has had on our community and region over the past 24 hours.
