New program offers mentorship, funding resources, and growth opportunities for women entrepreneurs ready to scale their tech ventures.

EmpowHER Tech Launchpad Opens Applications for Women-Led Tech Businesses in Mississauga

MISSISSAUGAIDEA Mississauga, in partnership with York University’s YSpace, has officially launched the EmpowHER Tech Launchpad, a 12-week accelerator program aimed at supporting women-led technology businesses that are poised for growth. Applications are open now and will close on July 11, 2025.


Supporting Women in Tech Through Acceleration

The EmpowHER Tech Launchpad is designed to empower women entrepreneurs through one-on-one mentorship, investor readiness training, and access to up to $200,000 in business resources. The program focuses on helping founders expand their market reach, build sustainable ventures, and navigate the challenges of scaling up.


Who Can Apply

Targeted toward registered Canadian businesses that are:

  • At least 51% women-led

  • Past the product-launch stage

  • Located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

  • Able to commit to in-person participation

Preference will be given to newcomer women founders, who continue to face additional systemic barriers in the tech sector.


What to Expect in the 12-Week Program

Participants will gain access to:

  • Expert-led workshops in sales, financial modeling, and fundraising

  • Personalized one-on-one mentorship

  • Weekly office hours with facilitators

  • A final showcase pitch event with industry mentors and investors

The hybrid program runs from September to December 2025, offering both virtual learning and in-person engagement.


Real Impact: Success Stories from Past Participants

Past participants of EmpowHER initiatives have launched new products, scaled revenues, expanded teams, and secured funding. Some have transitioned into IDEA Mississauga’s Step-Up Program for continued support, while others have earned recognition in regional pitch competitions.


Building a More Inclusive Innovation Ecosystem

EmpowHER is part of a broader mission led by IDEA Mississauga and YSpace to create more inclusive entrepreneurship ecosystems in the GTA. By focusing on diversity and removing systemic barriers, the program contributes to the long-term growth of Canada’s tech industry.
