F1 Racing: 2022 British Grand Prix, Silverstone Circuit; Qualifying

We are back in the UK for the 2022 British Grand Prix, Silverstone Circuit for Qualifications Q1, Q2, Q3 and pole position for “Race Day Sunday.”

We have rain, puddles of rainwater around the track and wet track conditions all around.

The teams are fitting their cars with “intermediate tyres.”

The Cinturato Blue Wet tyres can disperse up to 85 litres of rainwater per second per tyre at 300 KPH, making these tyres the most effective resolution for heavy rainwater.

Qualifying: Q1, Q2 & Q3

This the second half of the day is the most adrenaline-charged in sense of pure racing speed at its best.

Qualifying for pole position is as follows: Qualifying will take part in three sections, Q1, Q2, & Q3.

Q1 will see the top 15 of 20 racing cars with the quickest time advance into Q2.

Q2 will see the top 10 out of 15 racing cars remaining advance to Q3 where pole position will be decided by the top ten fastest times.

Q1 is 18 minutes long followed by a seven-minute break. Q2 is 15 minutes long, followed by an eight-minute break and Q3 for pole position is 12 minutes long.

 Qualifying Brief

We are back for the main event of the day at SILVERSTONE.

It is pouring out onto the track and we could be in for a hectic Q1, Q2 and Q3.

Waiting on the green light and away they go.

Visibility is an issue so far.

The pace is on and times are dropping fast as we see the first 5 drivers eliminated from Q1. STROLL, SCHUMACHER, VETTEL, MAGNUSSEN AND ALBON.

The break is over and the racing cars are back onto the track for Q2.

We have a green light… and they are off…

It is getting a bit dangerous out there! Drivers are losing grip. You can see the mist coming off the cars and rainwater puddles splashing over the track.  Visibility is not good.

Down to the final few seconds and the next five are eliminated in Q2. OCON, RICCIARDO, TSUNODA, BOTTAS, AND GASLY.

Onto Q3, we have a green light, and the “shootout” begins.

The condition is wet and the weather is evolving.

The high-speed bends have rainwater puddles around the track. We will have to look out for that.

It is go-time, full speed ahead for the fastest time and pole position!

About eight mins into Q3 and VERSTAPPEN sets the fastest sector and is on top of the timesheet.

Oh Wow! What a recovery from the Flying Dutchman.  He spins and recovers and away he goes, amazing!

With less than 3 mins to go, VERSTAPPEN is in pole position followed by HAMILTON in 2nd and RUSSELL in 3rd.

But here comes the Red Ferrari’s flying around the high-speed bends.

Its down to the last flying lap and we have… astounding! SAINZ, Ferrari, take his first pole position in the 2022 British GRAND PRIX with a time of 1:40.983. Following is VERSTAPPEN in 2nd with a time of 1:41.055 and LECLERC in 3rd with a time of 1:41.298.

Stay viewed for tomorrow’s race. Coverage begins at least 30 mins before the race. Ours start time is 10:00 am eastern time zone in the USA and Canada, See you then!
