Spring is finally here! Which means our ticket to longer days and preparing for warmer weather ahead. It’s also a time of renewal and celebration for many cultures across our vibrant city. Looking to make plans with family and friends? Here are some ideas to welcome spring (also known as Spring Equinox) in Mississauga.

Start a pollinator-friendly garden
Do you have a green thumb and thriving passion for gardening? Spring is a great time to start thinking about what you’ll be planting in your garden. Planting a pollinator-friendly garden with native types of grass, wildflowers, pollinator-friendly flowers and flowering shrubs and trees, is a great way to help pollinators, add some colour to your home and help other insects and animals. Consider making a pollinator friendly place for bees, butterflies and other important pollinators.

Explore the outdoors
As the snow melts, now is the perfect time to get outside to explore the natural beauty of our city. Mississauga is home to more than 500 parks, 300 km of trails and conservation areas. Try something new, such as hiking, biking or trail walking to witness the beauty of the city and rebirth of nature. Visit one of the city’s many parks or trails and take the scenic route this spring.

Sign-up for spring programs
Glad that winter is behind us (for the most part)? For those of us who aren’t winter enthusiasts, it’s music to our ears to officially welcome spring. To help you get into the frame-of-mind and thinking of warmer days, consider trying something new by signing up for a program, class or activity – programs start on March 25. View activities and programs

Watch colourful programs and live performances

Spring is an important time for many communities as they have rich cultural practices and traditions that show their strong bond with the land and cycles of nature. Take part in these traditions and celebrations, and leave feeling revitalized and hopeful for the coming season.
