OSHAWA — The Oshawa Generals bounced back from a tough road trip in dramatic fashion, defeating the Saginaw Spirit 3–2 in overtime at the Tribute Communities Centre on Sunday night.
Game Recap
After a scoreless first period, the Generals struck first when Harrison Franssen scored a shorthanded goal just 53 seconds into the second, assisted by Owen Griffin. Saginaw answered back midway through the frame on the power play, but Oshawa’s defensive play and steady goaltending from Jaden Cholette kept the game tied heading into the third.
Rookie forward Rowen Sang gave Oshawa a 2–1 lead at 13:28 of the third with assists from Anthony Figliomeni, but Saginaw equalized three minutes later to force overtime.
It didn’t take long for the Generals to seal it — just 17 seconds into the extra frame — when Owen Griffin buried the game-winner off a setup from Simon Wang and Luke Posthumus, igniting the home crowd of 4,157.
