Generals Dominate Storm for First Win of the Season

Generals explode offensively with seven goals as Cholette shines in net to secure first win of the season over Guelph.

GUELPH — The Oshawa Generals broke into the win column in emphatic fashion on Friday night, routing the Guelph Storm 7–1 at the Sleeman Centre.


Game Recap

The Generals came out fast and never looked back, exploding for three goals in the opening frame. Vadim Smirnov opened the scoring at 5:07, followed by back-to-back tallies from Luke Posthumus, including one at 17:16 that gave Oshawa a commanding 3–1 lead after 20 minutes.

Oshawa kept pouring it on in the second. Rookie Owen Griffin scored just 53 seconds in, and Jalen Lobo added a power-play marker midway through the frame to extend the Generals’ lead to 5–1.

In the third period, Griffin struck again at 3:58 before Sam Roberts capped off the scoring at 18:50 with his second goal in as many games. The Generals finished with seven goals from five different skaters, highlighting the team’s balanced attack.



Star Player

Goaltender Jaden Cholette was rock solid between the pipes, stopping 48 of 49 shots faced to earn first star honours. His calm presence gave the Generals the confidence to attack freely.

The Generals return home to the Tribute Communities Centre on Sunday, September 28, where they’ll face the Windsor Spitfires. Puck drop is at 6:05 p.m. as Oshawa looks to build momentum off their first win of the season.
