The Headwaters Crafted Journey offers a self-guided craft beer, cider and wine trail featuring eight producers across the Headwaters region.
HEADWATERS, ON β A new tourism initiative is inviting residents and visitors to discover the best of Ontario’s craft beverage scene while exploring some of the most scenic communities in the Headwaters region.
The Headwaters Crafted Journey, a self-guided craft beer, cider and wine trail, officially launched on May 30, connecting eight independent producers across Caledon, Erin, Orangeville, Mono and Grand Valley.
Designed as a passport-style tourism experience, the trail encourages participants to travel throughout the region, sampling locally produced beverages while experiencing live entertainment, local food offerings and the unique character of Headwaters communities.
The initiative is a collaborative effort involving local beverage makers, municipalities, business improvement areas and regional tourism partners, all working together to support tourism and economic development.
Eight Stops Across Headwaters
Participants can collect stamps at each of the eight featured locations:
- Badlands Brewing Company (Caledon)
- Spirit Tree Estate Cidery (Caledon)
- GoodLot Farmstead Brewing Co. (Alton)
- Caledon Hills Brewing Company (Caledon)
- Sonnen Hill Brewing (Caledon)
- Grand Valley Brewery (Grand Valley)
- Adamo Estate Winery (Mono)
- Mono Centre Brewing Co. (Mono)
Organizers say the journey showcases the diversity of the region’s craft beverage industry while encouraging visitors to explore lesser-known destinations throughout Headwaters.
Regional Collaboration Drives Tourism
The idea for the Headwaters Crafted Journey originated during a conversation between GoodLot Farm & Farmstead Brewing Co. owner Phil and Central Counties Tourism Executive Director Chuck Thibeault.
Following the initial discussions, participating producers joined the initiative while municipalities and business organizations, including the Town of Caledon, Town of Orangeville, Downtown Orangeville BIA and Town of Erin, helped bring the project to life.
Funding for the initiative was provided through contributions from participating makers and municipal partners, with Central Counties Tourism matching those investments through its Partnership Program.
βThis Headwaters Crafted Journey represents a strong and successful regional partnership,β said Chuck Thibeault, Executive Director of Central Counties Tourism.
βBy working together, Central Counties Tourism, our municipal, BIA and participating partners have collectively created an authentic experience that showcases local makers while bringing new visitors to our communities. It is amazing to see our municipalities and BIAs working together to drive people throughout the region through collaboration!β

To encourage participation, organizers have introduced a “Sip. Stamp. Scan. Win.” contest.
Visitors who complete the trail and collect stamps from all eight locations will be entered for a chance to win $1,600 in gift certificates provided by participating businesses. Four runner-up prizes will also be awarded.
Free passports are available at all participating locations.

The contest runs through September 30, 2026.
Supporting Local Tourism
The Headwaters Crafted Journey aligns with Central Counties Tourism’s broader mandate of supporting tourism businesses and increasing visitation throughout York, Durham and Headwaters.
The organization’s Partnership Program provides matching funds to tourism operators, organizations and event planners to help strengthen the regional visitor economy and attract visitors travelling more than 40 kilometres to the area.
As interest in culinary tourism and craft beverage experiences continues to grow, organizers hope the new trail will encourage visitors to spend more time exploring local communities while supporting independent producers throughout the region.
Families are welcome to participate in the journey, although alcohol service remains restricted to guests aged 19 and older. Organizers remind participants to enjoy the experience responsibly.
