BRAMPTON — The Brampton Honey Badgers officially tipped off their 2025 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) campaign over the weekend, unveiling their full roster and coaching staff while hosting media day at the CAA Centre on Sunday.

With training camp now underway and preseason action looming, the Honey Badgers are embracing the moment as a turning point season, aiming to return to CEBL Championship Weekend for the first time since their 2022 title run.

“This is a hungry group,” said Head Coach Sheldon Cassimy during media day. “We have veteran leadership, exciting rookies, and players that represent the community of Brampton and the wider GTA. I think fans will feel connected to this team on and off the floor.”

Roster Highlights: NBA pedigree, local roots, and rookies to watch
Leading the revamped roster is Quinndary Weatherspoon, a 2022 NBA Champion with the Golden State Warriors. Weatherspoon arrives in Brampton following a dominant season in China’s CBA and brings instant star power as one of two international imports alongside former NBA Summer League participant Amari Kelly.

The Honey Badgers also welcomed back championship veterans Koby McEwen, fresh off a Canadian Player of the Year campaign, and Prince Oduro, who is entering his fourth consecutive season with the club.

The local connection runs deep with the return of Brampton’s own David Muenkat, championship experience in hand from his stints with Scarborough and Winnipeg. He’s joined by first-time pro Jasman Sangha and 2025 CEBL second overall pick Yohann Sam, both representing the next generation of Brampton basketball.

Other key additions include Ali Sow, an all-time standout at Laurier University, and Taryn Todd, bringing his scoring touch from Arkansas State.

Rounding out the team are rookies Conner Landell and Mike Demagus, both drafted this year and eager to make their professional debuts.

Strong leadership on and off the court
Coach Cassimy’s staff is stacked with experience, including Lead Assistant Thomas Cory, and assistant coaches Mike Fraser, Christian Bentley, Devonte Case, and Cassandra “CJ” Nofuente, among others.

“We have a championship culture here,” said General Manager and VP of Basketball Operations Jermaine Anderson. “This roster has the right blend of experience and upside. More importantly, it’s filled with players who are committed to giving back to the community. That’s what the Honey Badgers brand is all about.”

Preseason & Regular Season Openers
Brampton wraps up training camp on May 12 before hosting the Niagara River Lions in preseason action on May 13 at the CAA Centre. The 2025 regular season opens May 18 in Montreal, followed by a May 21 tilt in Ottawa, before the Honey Badgers return to Brampton on May 24 to face the Scarborough Shooting Stars.

Ticket packages for all games at the CAA Centre are now available at honeybadgers.ca/tickets.
