Life-size LEGO Cadillac debuts at the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto
TORONTO — Canada’s largest automotive expo returns to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre this month, and one of the most talked-about attractions isn’t a production car — it’s a record-breaking, life-size LEGO® 1950s Cadillac built from hundreds of thousands of bricks.
The 2026 Canadian International AutoShow (CIAS) — running February 14–23 — showcases more than 650,000 square feet of vehicles, exhibits and interactive attractions for enthusiasts of all ages. It draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year and features vehicles ranging from the latest electric cars and concept models to classic and collector automobiles.
Brick-Built Automotive Showpiece Makes Canadian Debut
Among the feature displays this year is the life-size LEGO® 1950s Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special, making its Canadian debut after recently appearing at the FORMULA 1® Las Vegas Grand Prix.
The five-metre-long model — made from 418,556 LEGO elements, including a record 123,426 pink bricks — pays homage to the glamour of the original 1950s design while incorporating unique LEGO creativity. It seats up to five passengers, weighs more than 2,100 kilograms, and includes working headlights, taillights, turn signals and vintage-style tires.
Built by a team of 17 LEGO designers and master builders, the Cadillac is capable of reaching speeds up to 25 km/h and features a modern electric powertrain, authentic whitewall tires, a functional trunk with a spare tire and a custom Plexiglas windshield — details that blend playfulness with engineering precision.
Jason Campbell, General Manager of the Canadian International AutoShow, says LEGO’s display has become a fan favourite that appeals to both car lovers and families alike.
Hands-On Family Experiences
In addition to the life-size LEGO Cadillac, the LEGO Group’s feature at the AutoShow includes:
-
A LEGO play and build area for kids to create and race their own models.
-
A Kids Play Zone and a LEGOLAND Discovery Centre retail store with LEGO sets and activities.
These family-friendly exhibits are part of the broader CIAS program that aims to make the AutoShow engaging for all ages, alongside traditional automotive displays, concept car debuts and technology showcases.
