TORONTO — The Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers are all square at 2–2 in their Eastern Conference Second Round series, setting up a critical Game 5 at Scotiabank Arena on Wednesday, May 14, at 7 p.m. ET.
Toronto grabbed an early edge in the series with wins in Games 1 and 2 but stumbled in Florida, where the Panthers responded with a 5–4 overtime win in Game 3 and a clinical 2–0 shutout in Game 4. Sergei Bobrovsky turned in his fifth career playoff shutout to even the series and send it back to Toronto with all the momentum swinging toward Florida.
For the Maple Leafs, reigniting their offense will be key after being blanked for the first time this postseason. William Nylander, Auston Matthews, and Mitch Marner have all cooled off since the team’s fast start and will need to be difference-makers if the Leafs hope to retake the series lead.
In goal, Joseph Woll has performed admirably in relief of the injured Anthony Stolarz, but Toronto’s defense will need to tighten up after giving up 7 goals across Games 3 and 4.
