Mayor Tory encourages people across Toronto to get vaccinated during the Long Weekend Dose Drive

This Victoria Day long weekend, the City of Toronto is encouraging all residents to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Today, Mayor John Tory thanked staff at the Toronto Congress Centre City-run immunization clinic for working non-stop to get people vaccinated and welcomed the first people in-line to get their shot along with Councillor Joe Cressy (Spadina-Fort York), Chair of the Toronto Board of Health and Councillor Michael Ford (Etobicoke North).

All Toronto residents 18 and older are eligible to get vaccinated. During this Long Weekend Dose Drive, approximately 7,799 appointments are available between today and Monday in the provincial vaccine booking system. Tomorrow at 8 a.m., vaccination appointment booking at City-run immunization clinics opens to youth age 12 to 17. Those registering for vaccination appointments must be at least 12 years old at the time of booking. Anyone with an upcoming appointment booked in the coming weeks can reschedule their appointment to this weekend.

All eligible Torontonians are encouraged to book a vaccination appointment as soon as possible. Appointments are for first vaccine doses only. Appointments can be booked through the dark blue “Book a Vaccine” button on www.toronto.ca/covid-19 or by calling the provincial vaccine booking line at 1-833-943-3900. When booking online, residents should enter “Toronto” as their location at the scheduling stage to see the full list of clinics. To find the soonest appointment, click through the list of clinics with availability. Clinics at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Toronto Congress Centre, The Hangar and Cloverdale Mall have the greatest appointment availability.

City-run clinics are part of the Team Toronto vaccination network that includes hundreds of clinics operated by hospitals, pharmacies and other healthcare and community partners. A full list of eligible groups with information on where and how to register for appointments is available on the City’s COVID-19: How to Get Vaccinated web page at www.toronto.ca/home/covid-19/covid-19-protect-yourself-others/covid-19-vaccines/covid-19-how-to-get-vaccinated/. Those seeking a vaccine appointment are also encouraged to register and check availability with healthcare partners through www.vaccineto.ca, local pharmacies or healthcare providers.

“I want this weekend to be Toronto’s last long weekend in lockdown. Everyone is eligible to get vaccinated so please book your shot and help us bring an end to this pandemic. If you’ve already been vaccinated, thank you for doing your part. Now make sure your family and friends have got their first dose as well.”
