Milliken TOC Markham meeting highlights strong resident engagement and project updates

MARKHAM, ON – A community information meeting on the proposed Milliken Transit-Oriented Community (TOC) drew a strong turnout Wednesday evening, reflecting growing public interest in one of Markham’s key redevelopment initiatives.

Hosted by Ward 8 Councillor Isa Lee at Milliken Mills Community Centre, the session brought together residents, City staff and project representatives for an in-depth update on the Milliken TOC project and an opportunity for community feedback.

Project Aims to Transform Milliken Area

The Milliken TOC project is being jointly advanced by The Remington Group and Infrastructure Ontario. The redevelopment is expected to enhance transit connectivity, increase housing supply and introduce new community amenities in the area.

The March 25 session builds on earlier engagement efforts, including a virtual open house held on October 15, 2025, and an in-person open house on October 23, 2025. Officials say participation continues to grow as more residents seek to understand and shape the project’s direction.

Open Dialogue Between Residents and Project Team

Representatives from The Remington Group, including Randy Peddigrew and Joseph Pavia, presented the latest project updates alongside City of Markham Development staff Stephen Corr, Barton Leung and Brendan Chiu.

The meeting was structured to encourage open dialogue, allowing residents to ask questions, share concerns and engage directly with both the developer and municipal officials.

To expand participation, Councillor Lee’s office undertook targeted outreach ahead of the meeting, distributing invitation letters to residents within a one-kilometre radius of the project site.

Emphasis on Community Engagement

Councillor Lee highlighted the importance of continued public involvement throughout the planning process.

“The enthusiastic participation and meaningful discussions at this event clearly demonstrate how much residents care about the future of their community,” said Councillor Lee. “Ongoing and constructive public engagement is essential to ensuring that community voices are fully heard.”

City officials and project partners also acknowledged the role of community feedback in shaping future phases of the development.

Next Steps

The developer and Infrastructure Ontario are expected to host another virtual meeting in the near future as the planning process continues.

Residents can find additional information about the project, including updates and future engagement opportunities, at millikentoc.ca.

The Milliken TOC project is part of a broader regional focus on transit-oriented development, aimed at creating higher-density, mixed-use communities near major transit hubs across the Greater Toronto Area.
