MISSISSAUGA — Shovels are in the ground across the city as Mississauga launches its 2025 construction season, with more than $117 million earmarked for critical infrastructure upgrades. From road resurfacing and new bike lanes to major stormwater and flood mitigation projects, the City is advancing 23 new projects and continuing eight from 2024.

“Together, we’re building a safer, more efficient, and better-connected city,” said Mayor Carolyn Parrish, urging residents to remain patient and alert near work zones.

🛣️ What’s Being Built in 2025?

Mississauga’s Roads and Stormwater Capital Program supports essential work like road resurfacing, bridge repairs, sidewalk construction, and upgrades to the city’s stormwater management systems. The goal: improve safety, mobility, and climate resilience.

🚶 Active Transportation Upgrades

Mississauga continues to prioritize pedestrian, cyclist, and mobility-accessible infrastructure.

Key highlights for 2025 include:

  • Port Credit Active Transportation Bridge: A multi-year project will begin to build a new bridge with bike lanes, improved crossings, and intersection upgrades.

  • Ninth Line Widening: Between Eglinton Ave. W. and Derry Rd. W., this expansion will add cycling infrastructure.

  • Living Arts Drive Enhancements: Upgrades to intersections, pedestrian paths, and protected bike lanes will be completed this year.

🌧️ Stormwater & Flood Protection Projects

To reduce flood risks and protect homes and ecosystems, the City will continue major stormwater management projects, including:

  • Doug Leavens Blvd. Pumping Station in Lisgar to prevent basement flooding.

  • Malton Flood Relief: New storm sewer installation to ease water flow during storms.

  • Cooksville Creek: Culvert removal, King Street bridge replacement, and erosion prevention.

  • Creek Rehabilitation Work: Including Etobicoke, Sawmill, Sheridan, Mimico, and Cooksville Creeks.

🛠️ Road Resurfacing: 72 Streets Scheduled

With $30 million allocated to the City’s Road Resurfacing Program, 72 streets will see fresh pavement this year. Residents impacted will receive notice by mail. The work may also include:

  • Sidewalk repairs

  • Boulevard adjustments

  • Driveway apron improvements

The City advises residents to delay lawn or driveway renovations until resurfacing work is complete.

🚊 Hazel McCallion Line Update

Work continues on the Hazel McCallion LRT, with progress on guideways, track installation, and the elevated span over Highway 403. The southern terminus at Port Credit GO Station is advancing. For ongoing updates, residents are encouraged to follow @HazelMcCallionLine on X (formerly Twitter).
