Toronto, ON – Canadian author, professor, and public health entrepreneur Neil Seeman is bringing his international success to Japan. His widely praised 2023 book Accelerated Minds: Unlocking the Fascinating, Inspiring, and Often Destructive Impulses that Drive the Entrepreneurial Brain will be released in Japanese by prestigious business publisher Toyo Keizai on June 25, 2025.
Translated by acclaimed interpreter Yoko Niwata, the Japanese edition will be published under the title Entrepreneurship Addiction: The Stimulating and Destructive Impulses That Drive the Accelerated Brain of Entrepreneurs. The release marks a milestone moment for Canadian non-fiction publishing, as Seeman’s work on the neurological and emotional experiences of entrepreneurs reaches new international audiences.
Seeman is co-founder of Sutherland House Experts (SHE), a nonfiction publishing platform designed for subject-matter leaders and changemakers. Since its launch in 2023, SHE has quickly gained a reputation as a haven for healthcare reformers, policy advocates, and professionals with deep industry expertise. Seeman—who serves as publisher and continues to teach at the University of Toronto’s Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation—created the imprint in honour of his late parents, neuroscientist Dr. Philip Seeman and psychiatrist Dr. Mary Seeman.
The Japanese edition of Accelerated Minds delves into the high-stakes mindset of entrepreneurs who risk it all for innovation, driven by dopamine-fueled highs that can often turn into emotional and professional burnout. Drawing on his own experience as an entrepreneur and his father’s pioneering brain research, Seeman examines how entrepreneurs process risk, reward, and purpose—often to the point of self-destruction. The book has been hailed as both cautionary and empowering, offering new tools for managing the relentless mental drive behind the startup world.
“Entrepreneurs need to learn how to shift gears and put a brake pedal on their overactive brains or else they will suffer,” Seeman states.
Accelerated Minds was previously named a “Must Read” by the Next Big Idea Club and continues to spark conversation around the mental health of founders and risk-takers in high-pressure industries.
The Japanese edition’s June release coincides with increasing interest in leadership wellness and startup culture across Asia. With Seeman’s growing reputation as a mental health advocate in business and publishing, the book’s launch reflects a global movement toward rethinking how ambition and brain health intersect.
