BRAMPTON – The OHL Playoffs are heating up with a high-stakes, all-GTA matchup between the Oshawa Generals and the Brampton Steelheads, and so far it’s lived up to the billing.

After three games in their best-of-seven first-round series, the Oshawa Generals lead 2–1, with both teams trading statement performances in what’s quickly becoming one of the most compelling series in the Eastern Conference.

The action began on March 28, when the Generals stormed to a 7–4 victory in Game 1, powered by a hat trick and four-point night from star forward Colby Barlow. Oshawa’s depth and special teams were too much for Brampton to contain in the opener.

But the Steelheads came back swinging in Game 2 on March 30, riding an outstanding performance by goaltender Jack Ivankovic, who made 46 saves to seal a 3–1 win and even the series. Brampton’s structured defensive game and timely scoring turned the tide.

In Game 3, The Oshawa Generals defeated the Brampton Steelheads 7–5 on April 1, 2025, at the Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa. Owen Griffin led the way for the Generals with a hat trick and one assist, playing a pivotal role in helping Oshawa take a 2–1 series lead.

The series now shifts back to Brampton for Game 4 tonight, April 3 at the CAA Centre, with the Steelheads looking to even things up.

Game 5 is scheduled for Friday, April 5 at the Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa.

With the series evenly matched and both teams boasting future NHL talent, this playoff clash is one no GTA hockey fan should miss.
